Family

Ertrugrul family was seen as sheep herding family, or a shepherd. Question is how Ertrugrul goes to pave a way to establish an Empire which lasted 600 years. To do that research is necessary, he belonged to the Kayi tribe. The Kayi tribe originated from Oghuz Khan. Oghuz Khan had 6 sons and 24 grandchildren. One of the grandchildren was called Kayi. These are all traditional and oral records. He being a Turk had Huns as ancestors. The traditional legend on origins of Turks are from the Ashina Clan and a wolf origin. Though the TV series is not wholly based on history as it is a mix of history and fiction.

The Oghuz Turks–
The Oghuz Turks were nomads from Eurasian steppe and Kayi was one of the tribe

Siblings:
- Gundogdu Bey
- Sungurtekin Bey
- Dundar Bey(younger)
His older siblings did not support him in going West and history (Oral or conventional) does not remember them.Dundar Bey loved his brother with respect and awe so accompanied him. With that he loved his family like his brother Ertrugrul. The thing he was weak and indecisive and that might because of getting injured badly as a youngster (according to TV).
Wife of Ertrugrul
Halime Hatun was wife of Ertrugrul and she is said to have a royal lineage. In TV series it is shown, she is a Seljuk Princess and a grave is found in Sogut, Turkey with same name. There is must be some reason a shepherd goes to pave away for an Empire.
A disclaimer
History in east differs since it relies much on Traditional values and oral statements having not documented proof. Even 70 years ago, In Indian subcontinent people donated lands to other people without documentation and their descendants honored the action. These events were not documented and can be said as false’ or did not happen according to western historians. This is a difference between East and West.
